Types Of Car Insurance
Car accidents take place every day with all different people. When the unexpected happens do you have enough car insurance to repair your vehicle?
Although car insurance is not required by federal law, all states have mimimum car insurance laws. There are different types of car insurance to choose from.
Liability Coverage: is required by state law minimum insurance. There are 3 types of liability coverage:
- Property Damage Liability: If you are held liable for an accident, this cover’s repair and replacement of other people’s property.
- Bodily Injury Liability: If you are found at fault in a car accident, this covers other people’s injuries and death.
- Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist: If the other driver was the cause of the accident and has little or no car insurance, this type of insurance will help protect you.
You have the option of other kinds of insurance, which might help to cover you more and help to repair your car or pay for medical expenses.
- Collision: Covers your car repair in case you are liable for the car accident.
- Comprehensive: Pays to fix or replace your car in case of an accident caused by a third party or “act of God” (flood, hurricane, tornado, theft, vandalism, etc).
- Medical Payments Or Personal Injury Protection: This insures any medical expenses not resulting from a car accident, regardless of who was at fault.
No matter what type of car insurance you choose to buy, make sure you carry at least the minimum coverage required by your state’s law.
